Kathy Ireland - Super Role Model

Things ain't what they used to be. (In fact, they never was.)
The Profile (more than you really wanted to know) is
here.

Okay. Name a celebrity, a top model that was never drunk in public, was boring in the tabloids, was frugal with her earnings and went home early from the parties, without a tatoo. Well you already know the answer. Kathy Ireland - top model to role model. If only there were lots of YouTube movies of her for young women to watch and mold into their lives... Heck, men too.

Kathy Ireland - Fashion Model to Inspirational Role Model

The following is from Askmen.com:

"Kathy Ireland was born March 8th, 1963, in Santa Barbara, California. Her adolescence foreshadowed her future busy career as a wife, mother, businesswoman, humanitarian, actress, and model.

Why we like her?
She is like the girl next door, except instead of seeing her in the backyard sun bathing, we usually see her spread across a magazine frolicking in Tahiti on a photo shoot. Why can't we frolick too?

Why is she famous?
She landed on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 3 times, and totalled 13 appearances in the magazine.

Her workout videos were best-sellers alongside Jane Fonda and Cindy Crawford. She is also a part-time actress.

Kathy Ireland is a giant. Not because she's almost six feet tall (that's 1,80m for all you metric people), but because for a period of time, she was the world's biggest model until Cindy Crawford and her million-dollar mole came along."

No no....don't run down to KMart to get these bargains, the ads are from 1996.

The following excerpted from Wikipedia:
Kathy Ireland (born Kathleen Marie Ireland on March 8, 1963 in Santa Barbara, California) is an American supermodel, actress, author, and entrepreneur. She once had a line of clothing sold by Kmart. For a while, she hosted a segment on viewer mail and fitness tips on TV's BodyShaping.

Ireland has a modest number of television and movie acting appearances to her credit, including roles in Side Out, Mr. Destiny, Loaded Weapon 1 and Necessary Roughness. Her first movie - 1988's Alien from L.A. - was mercilessly skewered (as were Ireland's acting abilities) when it appeared on the fifth season of Mystery Science Theater 3000. But that doesn't stop her.

She is the author of Powerful Inspirations: Eight Lessons That Will Change Your Life.

Ireland is the chief designer and CEO of Kathy Ireland Worldwide, a billion dollar brand product marketing company. She began this industry in a time (pre-2000) when other fashion models were refusing non-model contracts, which allowed her to begin building her industry before pop culture took the fashion industry into model-style fashion industry.

Not only does she front her own brand of furniture through HomeClick she is connected with Georgia Carpet with her line of "Shades of America" Carpet. With Arrow Home Fashions she has her own line of beddings. There is a nice article here about that.

Ireland remains an avid public speaker on women's issues. he has recently become outspoken about being pro-life. On Politically Incorrect, she said that she used to be pro-choice, and said that after reading her husband's biology books, she determined, "At the moment of conception, life starts."

On March 4, 2007, she was named the Godmother of Carnival Cruise Lines 22nd ship, the M.S. Carnival Freedom" End quote from Wikipedia.

All of which just to say,

Happy Birthday Kathy.

The swimsuit photographs at top and bottom appeared in and belong to Sports Illustrated and are the exceptionally fine work of Marc Hispard and Robert Huntzinger respectively.
