Solemn High School Graduation
![]()
| Highschool graduation is a long awaited cap and gown occasion steeped in ceremony and tradition. Students and teachers always give serious participation in the ceremony. ![]() A burly stage hand brings a stack of bound diplomas on stage in front of the seated and attentive graduating students. ![]() One diploma is handed to the principal. The principal stands waiting as a name is called and the student solemnly crosses the stage. ![]() The student accepts the diploma and shakes the principal’s hand, at the same time handing him a plastic fork. ![]() The Principal turns and hands the fork to the burly stage hand and receives the next bound diploma. ![]() The stage hand tosses the fork in a bucket provided for that purpose. ![]() Finally, one by one the students cross the stage with stately decorum, ![]() to be congratulated by another member of the staff who moves the tassel to the left side of the graduated student’s cap. And the process is repeated for each of 220 students, or until the bucket is full of forks. ![]() The student body remains silent and serious during the entire ceremony knowing that now they are responsible adults. ![]() Though this is an exciting and special time for the graduates some of them are a bit tired because they missed nappy time early in the day. |
