Music Monday - Gerry Gersten Album Covers

The cartoonist/illustrator Gerry Gersten is one of those artists whose work falls too often unappreciated and unrecognized. Gerston has done a great deal of artwork beyond his noted contributions to MAD magazine. His artwork adorns magazine covers and phonograph albums too In a recent search for a catalog to show a complete set of "Honor Roll of Hits" albums from RCA Victor, with Gersten illustrated covers, none could be located. There simply is none. In fact, very little was found of Gersten's work at all. This page will begin to assemble a collection of record albums, LP and EP, using Gerry Gersten art. We’ll start with an ambitious project of album covers from an RCA Victor series of records. This is for information purposes only and none of these illustrations can be used in any commercial way.	The following examples are all from a set of records called the "Honor Roll of Hits" from RCA Victor. This page is assembled from a personal collection and any photograph or scan that could be found toward a complete list. Apparently there are 30 different covers on the EP (extended play) set. There also seems to be fifteen 10 inch LPs that combine two of the EP 45RPM sets. The covers of the Ten Inch albums found so far use art work from one of the EP albums that it includes. If you know of a photograph of any of the missing albums let me know. I'll add it here until there is a complete set.
