Thinks happen: Music Monday

Things are sort of dull around the Music Monday composing room, so for the next few weeks the cracked editorial staff has decided on a new feature for the day:

The artwork of David Stone Martin on record covers.

One exciting work of art (called Illustration by some) will be presented here each week until they run out. Each is a scan from the editor's personal library and the original copyrights apply.

Okay Okay. So Mort Sahl is not musical. So sue me.

He does however have a delightful David Stone Martin Cover.

Sahl had a cynical stand-up comic act. His humor was often a look at political systems and people. He wrote jokes for John Kennedy to be used in speeches.

His obsession with the Kennedy assassination and jokes about the Warren Commission got a lot of his shows cancelled. But, with the rise of the counter-culture movement in the mid sixties, he recovered. He is considered number 40 on Comedy Central’s 100 greatest standup comedians of all time.
