Music Monday - Roy Orbison

Roy Orbison's birthday is given as April 23, 1936.

Today in 1964, the Beatles attended the 28th birthday party for Roy Orbison. They must have been busy on the 23rd.

When I was in junior high and early high school, just beginning to try to deal with "that feeling" about females, part of my night time routine was to put albums by Roy Orbison, The Righteous Brothers and Gene Pitney on the spindle of the stereo (I know you know what a "spindle" and "stereo" are!) and listen to them while trying to fall asleep. It wasn't all that effective, however, because the ballads and love songs those guys sang just made me think about girls even more! :-)

Thanks TNPOTUS. I remember those days too. Except mine was decades before. Jazz was still the "popular" music. Crooners were established pretty well. Eddie Howard and that skinny kid.
