Is this from Oklahoma... not knowing, I believe that it is and it came from somewhere in the SW Portion of the state. Let me know... you have some awesome Okie pics on here! Thanks!

Thanks very much for your visit. Abandoned photographs are a fascinating subject.
Those of us who rescue (collect) these treasures know that even if a photo is found in a bin in say, Fletcher, Oklahoma, there is no certainty it originated there. The photograph of the boy in the cowboy outfit (dating about 1928) was part of a set of about 70, mostly of the boy, that came from an estate sale in Tuxedo Park, NY. But then I have found photographs in Ardmore that came from New York, Holland and Montana. And believe me, antique dealers never tell the truth about where they got them.

So the fact is, I don’t know where any of these photographs were taken. There is nothing in the background of any of the set that would indicate any location conclusively. There are no commercial buildings or signs or familiar landmarks. The varied architecture of the homes pictured, could be anywhere. I did blow up one sign in the background of one print but it revealed only “Swimming beyond this point prohibited.” Ten of the set show a beach or a shoreline. But it could be Galveston or Tenerife or Atlantic City.

Here is a second shot of the boy which, according to the photo finisher’s stamp on the reverse is from the same roll of film.
