The rack for the second stage of the shower walkway took most of the day. Selecting and then preparing the wood was the big part. Deciding which pieces of scrap would serve best in which capacity takes a long time.

Then the battery operated saw was not too happy about sawing partly damp wood. The battery ran down quickly and I switched to the spare which was not fully charged as it had served on the flashlight for a night. The second battery went low even faster. The first battery was on the charger only two hours but had enough power to finish the cuts needed for the day.

So the frame for the long part of the walkway is finished. Selecting and cutting the pieces for the planking will be the hard part today. The frame will have to be set into place, rocks placed in strategic places to make it firm and level. I will anchor one end to the base of the main deck steps and that will help stabilize it.

I wandered off into the forest again too. I spotted a fungus worthy of a photograph and got out the digital camera. When that fungus was archived I spotted another and then another. A half hour later I was yards back into the bush. Fortunately I could see the water and a good sense of direction kept me from being lost. Actually in that part of the bush, it would be hard to get lost. It is a rather small section bounded on all four sides with civilization. So a walk in any direction will eventually take one out.

Getting lost might be difficult these days. There is a new septic tank being installed at one of the neighboring properties. The backhoe beeps as it backs up, and the constant clanking and scraping can be heard all over the lake area. If one were distracted enough to get lost in the bush, the sounds would certainly orient one. Another thought just struck me, I wonder why it takes most of a week with a huge backhoe to dig a septic tank hole. I should look into that.

I took fifty shots. After deleting the rejects I had 37 good shots. A good average compared to some recent photo shoots that produced only one or two decent shots.

I plan to assemble the best shots out of the two or three fungus photo shoot groups from the past week, into a photo site. I will do that when I have more time and a DSL connection.
