Sunday Funnies - Helga and Marie
The occasion was an all-day bus tour of Softfoot, Oklahoma. Softfoot blew away in a tornado in 1925 and only this park remains.
Helga loved being rebellious but Marla felt they were taking their civil disobedience too far.
Trevor, (not pictured) was enamored with both of them but after inventing a breakthrough color of nail enamel, became a cloistered monk in the late ‘50’s and never saw the light of day again.
Twelve years later, Helga would change her name to Rainbow Wing and join a peace movement in Sioux City. She learned to weave sandals out of hemp and lived in a commune for many years. She had five children but never married. She is now delivering meals-on-wheels and babysitting the grand children.
Marla, on the other hand, was married four times, twice to the same man, and never with the benefit of divorces. She went missing late in the ‘60’s and two of her husbands found her in a tree with a family of opossums and Michael Jackson’s other glove. She is now painting what she calls “sky-scapes” at a private home for the perpetually intangible.
Helga, Marla and Trevor missed the bus that day and had to walk home. On the way, Trevor lost the box camera and they never saw this picture.
