Music Monday - Orkester

This has nothing to do with stuff that happened today. I just liked the picture.

On the back it says "Orkester" ...and that's it.

The Sweet Potato Rant

Not worth carrying off

I’ll spare you the complete rant. Here is the condensed version.

After the big boys drive out all the smaller, competing locals, they decide they can just sell anything to their captive audience. The degeneration is subtle, gentle, slow. We boil into it. Some never notice it.

Youngsters shopping for their new families don’t know any different.

The fresh food is often tasteless, indigestible and downright ugly. If you do find some that is edible, you may acquire a dose of the current affliction of an undocumented worker that picked the “fresh” produce maybe some weeks ago.

The processed food is built through chemistry and made to look edible. Cheese is yellow plastic. “Whole Grain” cereal is one third sugar.

One has only to look at the SHAPE of our children to know where it is going. And our benevolent corporations are instructing their puppets in government to provide less regulation, so that they can not be held responsible for shortening lives or even just killing people.

In other times, a grocer would have been embarrassed

Music Monday - Not a big day in Music History

Really, not much happened on this day in music history. A few rather obscure birthdays of composers or not very famous jazz musicians and some middlin’ boring events.

Itunes reached 250 million songs sold in 2005.
James Brown was sentenced to 6 years in jail for drug and assault charges in 1989.
In 1982, Diana Ross sang the U.S. national anthem at Super Bowl XVI.
In 1970 John and Yoko shaved their heads.
In 1962, Brian Epstein signed with the Beatles as their manager.
And in 1936 Benny Goodman recorded “Stompin’ at the Savoy” for the first time.

BUT LAST SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

The Lyric Arts Trio

The Lyric Arts Trio

Elena Lence Talley, clarinet
Sarah Tannehill, soprano
Daniel Velicer, piano

Fine entertainment.
And believe me, that gal can sing!
