She said, “I just don’t know you now;
I don’t know who you are.”
Her eyes were turned to something else;
A place he could not see.
A fog crept in around his thoughts;
A grayness filled his world
She met his gaze, his mind, once more;
He felt their thoughts dissolve
Their time had stretched too thin to last
She turned and walked away.
Her footsteps etched into his past
His future was today.

You could add some soft jazzy background music to that and it'd be a classic. :-)

That's a good idea! If I only knew how.
