By the way, is it significant when the local newspapers move the comics section from the back of the sports section to the back of the religious section?

Don't know why, but as I read that cutting a song kept jingling around my head "Hey - you - get offa my cloud" ......Prez. Obama has to come down from that soft fluffy cloud, down to Earth and realise there's ain't going to be any agreement with conservatives. None. They want him out of the White House, and agreement of any kind doesn't figure in their plans.
As for the comics section - doing away with the "news" - nudge nudge wink wink - section entirely and substituting comics all round would be good.
Washington politicians are hitting a new low in pettiness. Cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face is just a minor ploy to these narrow minded greed mongers. Will it take history books, decades from now, to make them realize that this era will be referred to as the “do-nothing” congress? The situation is worse when one considers how much they COULD do if it were not for their personal greed.
Agreed. I'm beginning to wonder if it's all simply a "shadow show" for the benefit of The Great Unwashed. Something for us to watch and grumble about while they carry on piling up their own billions and trillions of $$$$$$$ for their bosses, The Corporations.
