Found Friday - The meaning of life

Children often have a stronger grip on what is important than adults. Children have forgotten more than adults will ever know. It pleased Spike to help Tiffany across the street. He took her arm manfully but carefully and walked beside her. Her beautiful long hair held him spellbound. Tiffany was deliriously pleased when Spike took her arm. His gentle touch and warm smile were all she wanted in the entire world. She didn’t want to cross the street but a moment of his attention made it worth while. She could always go back later.

Thought for Tuesday - Pet Peeve

My one PET peeve. Toilet paper that won’t tear evenly. What’s yours? Here's a few of the comments from over on Flickr: Wren's Nest Cottage says: Mine is people putting drink cups into the trash with liquid still in them...grrrrr. anyjazz65 says: Thanks! I don't understand why they do that either. I just had a thought. In fast-food restaurants where you are expected to clear your own table, they already KNOW everyone is going to throw their left over drinks, ice and all into one of the trash bins located conveniently in front of each exit. Why don’t they use heavier trash bags so they do not leak? Why don’t they wash out the bins and cabinets now and then so they don’t smell sour and destroy one’s appetite? I don’t go to fast-food establishments. I used to run one.. blairdashpb says: a cafe that i go to where one waitress ALWAYS picks up the cups with her forefinger and thumb, with her finger inside the cup. I always want to say something, but it seems so churlish. in these days of so much stuff being catching though it makes me wince. another is stores/markets/ food places that have food, uncovered, and unwrapped on sale. (bread, salads, cold meats, cheeses, sweets, - i mean have they not heard of swine flu?) i guess i have a lot of food peeves! (my mum used to run a grocery store when i was little and went through rigorous food hygiene training!) it must have rubbed off. anyjazz65 says: I was in the restaurant business for about 10 years. I was the guy who went around for the company making sure the managers were using the proper methods in food handling, safety, accounting, etc. Annie says I STILL do it. I guess I do. Now now. But my PET peeve is still the toilet paper thing. Yes, those film credits have gotten all out of hand. Why credit the driver who carried the B-list co-star to the sound stage, on Tuesdays? Why credit the caterer? And now those animated films have absolutely ENDLESS credits for people who sketched, inked, painted in each character and each background of each frame. Why don’t they just run a state census list? I truly don’t care who ran the copy machine, swept up the confetti after scene 114 and who groomed the dog! Remember when the film credits ran at the FIRST of the movie? They could usually get it out of the way during the first scene of the movie AND get the plot started at the same time. For me, a real music freak, the music credit is often important information. I hear a snip of a song during the movie that I can’t identify and I wait for the credit roll to fill the gap. Do you know where the music credits are? They are ALWAYS last! In recent years I have taken to looking it up on line later, if I can remember it when I get home after fighting to get out of the theater. I just had a thought: Maybe the corporations that run our theater-arts think you will go buy another twelve-buck box of popcorn to carry you through the credit roll. Do you think so? phoebeofthesea says: I agree about the music credits - something you really WANT to know, and it's at the end. Also - I like credits afterwards that show a pic of the actor in the role and give his/her name -- sometimes I cannot catch the character name and must look things up on-line later. My 'pet peeve' -- geesh - that's a tough question -- I can overcome toilet paper no matter how it's hung and overlook unsanitary conditions long enough to leave without puking - so those aren't among my peeves. Maybe hypocrites - the sinners Dante and I both hate the most. But that's too major to be just a 'peeve'. I know: when you are first in line at the red light -- and the people turning left on their green to go into the lane next to you (i.e. going the other way on the street you are on) cut the corner so close you almost instinctively want to back up your car to keep from getting hit. Why can't they make a wider turn? How much time does it save to shave the corner of your front bumber that closely? It's like they think you are in THEIR lane. anyjazz65 says: Ah. Rude, empty-headed, law-breaking drivers. What a subject! Maybe it ought to be a whole separate category of peeves. I agree, there are too many drivers who think they are the ONLY drivers out there. My SIL Jeff, editor of a small town newspaper, wrote a very nice article on that very subject just yesterday. When it appears on line I will include a link here. anyjazz65 says: And ANOTHER thing. Musical Monday - The Unmentionables

The American Idol Concert 2009 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At a previous concert during a duet by Lambert and Irahita, a bra was pitched onstage from the audience. Allison kicked it around and finally Adam picked it up, swung it around and pitched it back into the audience. During the same duet in Tulsa, a bright red bra landed on stage as well as a pair of panties. They kicked them around a bit and then Adam picked up the bra, swung it around and pitched it back into the audience. Ah, Showbiz.
