Ah, ha! Now you've finally gotten into somebody I can say, Yes, I do have one of those!!! In fact, I've got 3 Michael Parks albums, including the one shown. His first release was "Long Lonesome Highway," which included the theme song from "Then Came Bronson," a show I really dug as the '60s turned into the '70s. I was 18-20 years old, and doing that "finding myself" thing, so the character and theme of the show really appealed. Musicians on that album included the great guitarist Gary Burton, James Hendricks and pianist Mike Rubini. Most of the songs were written by Hendericks, but "Yonder Comes the Blues" was the song that first introduced me to the great folk singer/songwriter Fred Neil (He of "Everybody's Talkin'" fame). The second album was "Closing the Gap," which was more countryish, including songs like "San Antonio Rose" and "Wayfarin' Stranger," along with Woody's "Oklahoma Hills." Burton and Rubini were involved in that one as well. I always thought Michael Parks should have gone full-time into music after "Then Came Bronson" faded. He did/does have some talent and soul.
ReplyDeleteWhen we finally got around to watching the entire "Twin Peaks" I was surprised to find him playing a rather sleazy baddie in that strange series. I had a feeling you might have some of his musical efforts. So I ran the Dale Evans one in too.
ReplyDeleteNo Dale, but I do have a Roy Rogers album!
