You know, of course, "The Men in My Little Girl's Life" was a huge hit as a single. Reached No. 6 and spent 9 weeks on the Billboard chart in '65!! Hard to believe, ain't it? Then again, in '65, the Billboard chart wasn't dominated by rock 'n' roll.
Yes, our popular DJ fare has changed over the years. I remember when big bands still dominated the air. Then followed the comedy records and the “pop” singers.
I recall when "Doggie in the Window" was played constantly. I remember when the local disk jockey smashed the 78 rpm record while on the air. He promised he would never play it again.
Then the Rock era began. Possibly those to events are connected.
